Long Island/New York City Homeschool Chorus

The LI/NYC Homeschool Chorus has completed its first season with a performance at the Oyster Bay Manor Nursing Home in Oyster Bay. The chorus sang 14 selections which included; 11 traditional Christmas carols, 2 traditional spirituals and 1 Veggie tune.

There were 11 students in all, ranging in age from 7 to 17 and they all did very well.

As it happened, the nursing home director, liked the chorus so much, she invited them to sing for their memory impaired facility the same day. So, one performance became two!

Molly Miller, the choral director, and I were very proud of their hard work to bring the meaning of the season to these special people. We could see the students positive response to the residents singing along and enjoying the company.

With that, I would like to extend an invitation to any and all LEAH members interested in joining the chorus for its second season. We will begin on Wednesday, February 1st, 7-8:30pm, at 251 Merrick Road, Rockville Centre.
